Advanced Reactor Design Safeguards Workshop

We are thrilled to announce that we, the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM) Texas A&M University Student Chapter, will be holding an exciting workshop on safeguards for advanced reactor designs (Register Here). The workshop will be a two and-a-half day event on April 23rd-25th hosted right in the heart of the Texas A&M campus.

  • The workshop will consist of three sessions each of the first two days where presenters will discuss the following topics: Advanced Reactor Technology, Safeguards Technology in Development, and Safeguards Concepts, Approaches, and Policies.

  • After the end of each of the first two days, we aim to host socials at local College Station restaurants. On the third day, attendees will have the option to tour facilities of the Nuclear Engineering Department at Texas A&M University.

  • Both INMM members and non-members, as well as students, are welcome to register for the workshop.

The intent of this workshop is to gather experts in safeguards and advanced reactor design to discuss current and future safeguards implementations for these new reactors. With the development of various designs and concepts, new challenges arise in the world of safeguards. Current safeguards in place must be modified or even new safeguard methods must be created for new reactors to meet regulations. With the great advancements that many start-up companies have made towards implementing their advanced designs, the topic of advanced reactors is widely discussed throughout the country. Without developing the very necessary safeguards for new reactors, the designs could never reach final implementation.

We are very excited for the outcome of this workshop and we cannot wait to welcome guests from all around the world.
